DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with senior trial team to represent personal injury plaintiffs in complex civil proceedings involving work injuries, maritime and offshore, and trucking.
- With assigned Houston senior trial team, work up cases from file to trial/settlement.
- Practice in varied jurisdictions (60% of cases in Texas, 20% Louisiana, 20% elsewhere).
- Take depositions.
- Draft pleadings, motions, and complex demand letters.
- Preparing for and attending hearings, mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and trials.
- Active participation in all aspects of litigation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- J.D. from an ABA accredited law school.
- Member in good standing of Texas state bar.
- Minimum of three to five years post law school experience at a civil law firm plaintiff or defense.
- Excellent oral communication, writing, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team, effectively and efficiently, without significant supervision.
- Ability to track, prioritize, and complete multiple concurrent assignments with precision and on time.
- Thrive on obtaining the best results in a fast-paced environment.
- Exhibit professionalism by adhering to all firm policies, confidentiality requirements, and court rules.
- Willing and available to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends as needed to accommodate caseload demands and court deadlines.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- In office; not a remote position.
Experience:
- 3-5 years civil litigation.
- Experience taking depositions and arguing motions in court.
- Communication with clients on a regular basis.
- Knowledge of Texas state and federal laws.
- Experience writing/researching briefs, motions, and responses.
- Trial experience preferred.
