Job Summary

A well-established legal services organization is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant for a direct hire opportunity in Tallahassee, FL. This role will support a busy litigation practice with a strong focus on appellate work and litigation matters in both state and federal court.

The Litigation Legal Assistant will work closely with multiple attorneys and internal teams in a professional, fast-paced law firm environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented legal support professional who enjoys high-level litigation work, deadline management, court filings, and being a trusted partner to attorneys handling complex matters.

The ideal candidate will bring strong defense litigation experience, excellent organization, and the ability to manage competing priorities with accuracy and professionalism. Key Responsibilities

- Prepare, file, and manage litigation documents for state and federal court matters, including appellate and trial-level filings.
- Calendar court deadlines, hearings, appointments, and case-related tasks in accordance with applicable court rules and attorney schedules.
- Coordinate hearings, court reporters, document uploads, and other case logistics for litigation proceedings.
- Maintain electronic and paper case files, including tracking case status updates and managing a case status database.
- Assist with billing, expense tracking, reimbursements, attorney time entries, invoice edits, and delivery of client bills.
- Handle correspondence, incoming and outgoing mail, phone calls, emails, and other administrative support for assigned attorneys.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $65,000 to $75,000 per year.
- Direct hire opportunity.
- 100% in-office position in Tallahassee, FL.
- No remote work available.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Support attorneys handling litigation and appellate matters in both state and federal court.
- Manage court filings, calendaring, hearing scheduling, document uploads, and case status tracking.
- Assist with billing, expense processing, case file management, and legal correspondence.
- Coordinate work across internal firm departments, including case openings, conflict checks, records, billing, and administrative support.

- At least five years of law firm experience as a defense litigation legal assistant.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state court rules of procedure, including the ability to calculate deadlines accurately.
- Experience supporting multiple attorneys in a mid-sized to large law firm environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Experience using law firm case management and billing software.
- Strong drafting, proofreading, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure, manage high-volume assignments, and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail, initiative, follow-through, and organizational skills.
- Reliable physical attendance and punctuality in an office-based work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Prior experience supporting appellate litigation matters.
- Experience with document management, timekeeping, and billing platforms used in law firm environments.
- Background working with complex litigation teams and coordinating across multiple administrative departments.
