Job Summary

A growing legal team in Vero Beach, FL is seeking an experienced Family Law Legal Assistant to support a busy family law litigation practice. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented legal professional who enjoys working in a collaborative law firm environment and providing high-quality administrative and litigation support to attorneys and clients.

The Family Law Legal Assistant will play an important role in keeping case files organized, deadlines on track, calendars updated, and client communications handled professionally. Key Responsibilities

- Organize, maintain, and update physical and electronic legal files, including opening new matters, processing conflict checks, and closing files according to established procedures.
- Type, proofread, edit, and format legal documents from dictation, handwritten notes, and attorney direction.
- Manage attorney calendars, contact lists, file listings, meetings, conference rooms, deadlines, and scheduling needs.
- Assist with client billing, including entering attorney time, editing bills, tracking billing due dates, and delivering invoices to clients electronically and in paper form.
- Initiate, answer, and direct telephone calls while relaying messages, responding to client needs, and maintaining positive client relationships.
- Create charts, spreadsheets, and database updates to track case information, client details, and matter-related records.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $60,000 to $70,000 per year, depending on experience.
- Direct hire opportunity.
- Location: Vero Beach, FL 32960.
- Remote flexibility: Ability to work remotely 2 days per month.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Support a busy family law litigation practice group with legal administrative and case management tasks.
- Manage legal files, calendars, deadlines, client communications, and billing support.
- Prepare, proofread, edit, and organize legal documents and correspondence.
- Maintain accurate records, databases, spreadsheets, and case-related documentation.

- 3 or more years of family law litigation experience in a law firm environment.
- Strong knowledge of legal assistant, litigation support, and family law administrative procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Excellent typing, proofreading, editing, and document formatting skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and confidential information.
- Professional demeanor with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, team-focused, and client-service minded.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with iManage or similar document management systems.
- Prior experience supporting attorneys in a high-volume family law litigation practice.
- Strong ability to build positive client relationships and support a collaborative legal team environment.
