The Kent County Prosecuting Attorney's Office is in search of Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys to join the Appellate Division.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney - Appeals

The successful candidates will prepare and respond to motions in trial courts; prepare and respond to filings in the Michigan Court of Appeals and Michigan Supreme Court, including oral argument as needed; research legal issues and provide assistance and advice to trial attorneys in all divisions of the office, as well as for local law enforcement agencies; and perform other projects related to the work of the office. Experience in handling criminal cases as a practicing attorney or experience with appellate work is preferable.

Pay Range Depending on Qualifications:

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney I - II: $79,543 - $97,416 Annually

Minimum Qualifications

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney I:

Graduation from an accredited law school and membership in the State Bar of Michigan. Those that have taken the State Bar Exam but are still awaiting results may be considered. Working knowledge of accepted courtroom practices and procedures, knowledge of legal research and reference sources, and basic computer literacy required.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney II:

Must possess a Juris Doctorate or Bachelor of Law and membership in the State Bar of Michigan, combined with three years of progressively responsible experience as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney or Trial Attorney. Thorough working knowledge of Michigan criminal and civil codes, family and domestic relations statutes, appellate law, case law and accepted courtroom practices and procedures is required.
