PROBATIONARY PERIOD : Appointees must satisfactorily complete a six-month probationary period before the appointment will be considered regular.
- Starting Salary: $94,473.60
- After Six Months of Successful Employment: $96,262.40
- After One Year of Successful Employment: $98,051.20
- Maximum salary is achieved after four successful years of employment.
- Be a citizen of the United States or a resident alien with the right to work in the United States; and
- Have been admitted to the practice of law in the state of Michigan and be in good standing with the Michigan State Bar Association; and
- Have a minimum of six years of full-time, paid work experience as an attorney whose practice within the last ten years has been substantially in the area of civil litigation.

- Civil Litigation, civil procedure and rules of evidence
- Familiarity with drafting pleadings, briefs along with discovery requests and responses.
- Alternative Dispute Resolution
- Communicate orally in the English language with witnesses, judges, other agencies, and members of the public by telephone or in a one-to-one or group setting
- Analyze, appraise, and organize facts, evidence, and precedents and to present such materials effectively, both orally and in writing
- Determine the limits of action available to opponents and the probable course of action of the opponents in court cases
- Present and argue cases in court
- Work smoothly with unanticipated situations when these arise
- Produce written documents with clearly-organized thoughts with proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar
- Negotiate settlements
- Demonstrate sound judgment
- Work cooperatively with others
