Benefit Highlights: 21 Paid Vacation Days, 12 Paid Sick Days, and 14 Paid Holidays Medical Coverage through Kaiser or UHA - you chose the best option for your family 401K or Roth with 4% Employer Match Life Insurance Pet Insurance Summary of Position: The primary responsibilities of the Shelter Advocate are to provide advocacy and facilitation support services to domestic violence survivors who are admitted to the Shelter. The Shelter Advocate will provide individual advocacy, crisis intervention, and individual counseling for clients admitted to the shelter including intervention and crisis counseling for clients experiencing episodes of trauma response, mental health crisis, substance use crisis, or medical emergencies. This position also manages the intake and discharge procedures for each client as assigned. This position is under the direct supervision of the Shelter Manager. Essential Functions: 1. Behaves in a manner that supports the agency's mission and follows personnel policies and procedures. 2. Facilitates weekly Domestic Violence Survivor support groups and education to adult survivors residing at the shelter and in collaboration with Shelter Case Manager, will assist in providing individual advocacy, crisis intervention, and individual counseling for clients admitted to the shelter and notifies the Shelter Manager in the event of crisis situations. 3. Completes client assessments, intakes, and safety check evaluations with clients who are admitted to the shelter for services. 4. Manages incoming calls to the domestic violence shelter access line and office lines and responds to service inquiries and referrals within the Domestic Violence Community, and requests for information or interagency communication in a timely and courteous manner. 5. Provides clear, concise, and non-judgmental written documentation of reports, follow-up calls, monitoring, collateral contacts, crisis calls and other pertinent information in client individual files in a timely manner. Is responsible for maintenance of case records and for accurate data input of client information into eHana and any other required data base systems. 6. Monitors and assess the basic needs of clients, including personal items, and provides appropriate assistance to clients admitted to the shelter, as needed. 7. Assists in managing the daily operations of the shelter programs by maintaining client house and office cleanliness, assisting clients with daily needs, providing intervention in house conflicts, restocking the pantry and donation room supplies, and completing inventories of shelter supplies. 8. Participates in planning, preparation, and follow-up of client's contacts, facilitates weekly activity groups, providing additional client support and encouraging family bonding. Facilitates monthly house meetings on topics surrounding community living and support resources. Education / Training: Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or equivalent human services field, required PLUS one (1) year experience support and advocacy services in the field of intimate partner violence plus one (1) year experience working with children in a group or individual setting, preferred, OR High School Diploma, required PLUS three (3) year's experience proving support and advocacy services in the field of intimate partner violence plus three (3) years' experience working with children in a group or individual setting, required
