iHire: What one word best describes Trinity Health?

MM: Steadfast.

iHire: Has Trinity Health received any industry or community awards or recognition?

MM: Trinity Health has been recognized by the American Heart Association for exceptional stroke care, and our maternity care and hip and knee replacement services have achieved designation as a “Blue Distinction Center” by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota.

iHire: Can you share a fun fact or anecdote about Trinity Health?

MM: At 2:00 a.m. on January 18, 2002, a long day began that Trinity Health and the community will never forget. A 30-car train derailment resulted in 250,000 gallons of ammonia streaming into the atmosphere in what was the world’s largest ammonia spill. For several hours, much of the town, including the hospital, was engulfed in a toxic cloud hundreds of feet high and several miles long. Responding to the respiratory emergency, Trinity Health employees marshalled resources, including oxygen masks, ventilators, and respiratory medication. An emergency care site was opened at a local elementary school away from the cloud. Despite the toxic fog, which made travel extremely hazardous, some 200 employees responded to the disaster – many risking their own lives. More than 300 patients sought medical care in the hours immediately after the spill; around 1,000 were injured altogether. At the end of the long day, Trinity’s staff could enjoy the satisfaction that comes with a job well done.
