Job DescriptionWithin Vantage Studios in Montreal, a subsidiary of Ubisoft, you will report to the Vice President, Legal Affairs of Vantage Studios and be dedicated to a portfolio of three franchises: Assassin's Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry. As a Legal Counsel , you will work in an international, creative, and constantly evolving environment, at the heart of issues related to game production and operations, combining operational responsibilities with strategic contribution.
What you'll do:
Turn law into a creative lever: act as the legal partner for creative and business teams, from the initial idea of a game through to the operation and evolution of the franchise (production, live, diversification, new experiences)
Structure, negotiate, and secure a broad spectrum of agreements (services, licenses, distribution, partnerships), in both French and English, under international law, at the core of video game, content, media, and technology challenges
Provide pragmatic and strategic legal advice in a fast-paced and sometimes fluid environment, supporting teams in their decision-making
Train and empower Vantage Studios teams on legal fundamentals (IP, contracts, risk awareness), with a pedagogical and business-oriented approach
Work in a cross-functional and international manner, engaging with stakeholders at all seniority levels, and contributing to global projects (with possible travel between Montreal and Paris)
Contribute to the management of pre-litigation situations, in close coordination with external counsel, with an anticipatory and solution-oriented approach
Maintain active monitoring of legal, regulatory, and technological developments likely to impact Ubisoft and the video game industry
What you bring:
Proficiency in contract law in environments related to media, entertainment, technology, or video games
Ability to communicate in a clear, composed, and structured manner with high-level stakeholders
An autonomous, accountable, proactive, and pragmatic approach to managing files
Strategic and analytical mindset , with a strong sense of priorities, solution-oriented and adaptable to change
Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills, with ease working collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams
Curiosity and interest in video game franchises , their genres and production dynamics, as well as the competitive video game ecosystem
Professional proficiency in both French and English
