The Office of Impact Litigationplays a critical role in advancing the Attorney Generals policy prioritiesthrough litigation and advocacy. Ithandles a broad array of matters, including federal accountability litigation,amicus brief and comment letter work, environmental litigation.
Summary StatementThe Delaware Department of Justice is looking for a highlymotivated and experienced litigator to serve as a Deputy Attorney General inthe Office of Impact Litigation, part of the Fraud & Consumer Protection Division.This is a significant opportunity to do complex and high-impact legal work inareas of immediate local and national importance.
This position reports directly to the Director of the Office ofImpact Litigation and will represent the Attorney General and the State in abroad range of impact litigation and investigative matters aligned with theAttorney Generals policy priorities. You will pursue affirmative litigationacross a wide range of subject areas, collaborate with multistate partners, andcontribute to the development of amicus briefs, rulemaking comments, and otheradvocacy efforts that shape law and policy at the state and national level. Areasof focus may include federal accountability, federal rulemaking, constitutionalrights, environmental protection, firearms safety, healthcare, immigration,labor protections, and the oversight of Delawares charitable entities.

Career Ladder Pay Grade 14 DAG II Salary Range $92,259/min $96,760/max Pay Grade 16 DAG III Salary Range $101,898/min $106,468/max Pay Grade 18 DAG IV Salary Range $112,031/min $119,317/max Pay Grade 20 DAG V Salary Range $125,885/min $135,154/max Essential FunctionsTheDeputy Attorney General will handle affirmative litigation and investigationsin support of the Attorney Generals policy objectives, including multistateand in-state matters involving federal accountability, constitutional rights,environmental protection, firearms safety, healthcare, immigration, employeelabor protections, and oversight of Delawares charitable entities. The rolemay include leading or supporting investigations that could lead to futureimpact litigation efforts.
Inaddition, the Deputy Attorney General may assist with the development andreview of amicus briefs, rulemaking comments, and position letters onnon-criminal matters. This includes working closely with other Deputy AttorneysGeneral and a Paralegal to track incoming materials, conduct legal research,and prepare recommendations for the Attorney Generals consideration. TheDeputy Attorney General may also participate in drafting original briefs,comments, or letters to reflect and implement the Attorney Generals policygoals.
Theposition may also include work related to the Attorney Generals charterrevocation authority, requiring coordination with the federal Office of ForeignAsset Control (OFAC) and the Delaware Division of Corporations. Other dutiesmay be assigned by the Director of the Office of Impact Litigation as needed.
Job RequirementsCandidatesmust have exceptional organizational skills, the ability to work independently,and a proven track record of meeting deadlines. A minimum of four years oflegal practice experience and a solid understanding of complex civil litigationare required. The strongest candidates will have at least ten years ofexperience handling complex litigation in both federal and state courts, alongwith excellent writing and oral advocacy skills.
Weseek an individual who demonstrates a strong commitment to public service andadvancing the public interest. Admission to the Delaware Bar, or a willingnessto sit for the next Delaware Bar examination, is required.
