Verisk is seeking a Staff Attorney to support our Life Solutions division, which covers life insurance products, software licenses, and support services. The ideal candidate is a commercially minded, collaborative selfstarter with strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and partner with business stakeholders, balancing risk with business objectives.
This role is based in Jersey City, NJ and will report to the Chief Litigation & Managing Counsel. We use a hybrid work model of three days in the office per week with the option of working remotely for the remaining two days.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, including customer agreements, software licenses, SaaS agreements, amendments, statements of work, and consulting agreements supporting Verisk Life Solutions.
- Provide daytoday legal support to sales, product, and operations teams by advising on contractual risk, privacy, intellectual property, and regulatory considerations.
- Interpret and apply Verisk's standard templates and playbooks, escalating nonstandard terms and risk issues as appropriate.
- Collaborate with internal subjectmatter experts (e.g., privacy, compliance, security, product, and finance) to deliver practical and timely legal solutions.
- Support contracting activities with customers, vendors, and strategic partners, including FASTrelated postacquisition integration matters.
- Perform legal research and analysis related to commercial, data, intellectual property, and regulatory issues impacting Verisk Life Solutions products and services.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of contract processes, templates, and internal guidance.
- Handle additional commercial or corporate legal projects as assigned.
- JD degree from a U.S.-accredited law school.
- Admission to NJ State Bar or eligible for NJ in-house counsel limited license.
- 5+ years legal experience in commercial contracting, including software licenses and support services, gained in a law firm and/or in-house legal department.
- Strong contract management experience, including drafting and negotiating, is required.
- Experience in life insurance or financial services and interest in data preferred.
- Privacy and intellectual property experience preferred.
- Comfortable operating in a client-facing role.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills.
- Strong attention to detail.

- Strong work ethic and must be able to independently manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
