Position Summary
The Supervising ElderAccessLine Attorney plays a key leadership role within the Centralized Intake Unit (CIU), providing legal guidance, supervision, and strategic direction to attorneys and paralegals serving older Nebraskans.
This role combines legal analysis, client guidance, staff mentorship, intake oversight, and community engagement. The attorney will help ensure clients receive high-quality legal information and services while supporting efficient statewide intake operations.
Essential Responsibilities
Evaluate Centralized Intake Unit applications to determine eligibility and level of service
Conduct legal research, client interviews, and fact gathering to provide legal advice and recommendations
Educate clients regarding legal options, processes, and potential outcomes
Assist in supervising, training, and mentoring intake paralegals and support staff
Help manage daily workflow and intake operations
Ensure compliance with Legal Services Corporation (LSC) regulations and recordkeeping requirements
Maintain current knowledge of legal issues affecting elders and low-income communities
Support outreach and education efforts within the elder community statewide
Build and maintain relationships with partner agencies and community organizations
Assist in developing intake guidance materials, scripts, and documentation
Participate in AccessLine and ElderAccessLine call support as needed
Work Environment & Flexibility
This is a mostly remote position with flexible work arrangements. Attorneys may work from anywhere in Nebraska within 60 miles of a Legal Aid of Nebraska office.
Occasional travel to Legal Aid offices, including Omaha, and limited statewide travel will be required.
Candidates must be able to maintain a private, confidential workspace for remote work.
RequirementsQualifications

Required Qualifications
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
Licensed and in good standing with the Nebraska State Bar, or admission imminent
Experience practicing law, preferably in elder law, legal aid, public interest, poverty law, or related client-service work
Strong communication and leadership skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a statewide team environment
Commitment to serving low-income and older adult communities
Preferred Qualifications
Prior supervisory or mentoring experience
Awareness of legal issues affecting low-income and elder populations
Experience working with vulnerable or underserved communities
Attorneys returning to practice after a career break are encouraged to apply
