Main responsibilities: The Senior Counsel - Field Operations & Employment Law will play a key role within the Albertson's legal team and will be responsible for providing practical, timely and high-quality legal advice to assigned clients. You will work directly with warehousing and distribution operations leadership and retail division leadership and advise on all aspects of employment law for the workforce, including day-to-day advice, resolving pre-litigation disputes, internal investigations and administrative claims, including OSHA complaints, management of litigation, and other key regulatory, compliance and commercial matters. Provide advice and counsel to Human Resources, Labor Relations and Operations on all aspects of employment law; Analyze complex commercial/business concepts and identify relevant legal issues and related, real-world risk; provide prompt, clear and practical legal analysis, advice and solutions; and assist the business in achieving its goals; Work collaboratively with Asset Protection, Human Resources, Management and Labor Relations to investigate and defend claims by current and former employees; Provide advice and counsel on employment discrimination, wage and hour, ADA, OSHA and other employment-related matters; Partner with regulatory counsel to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations including food safety, DOT compliance, liquor laws, and environmental laws; Work independently and effectively to solve a wide range of commercial and regulatory issues and provide legal guidance to minimize risk across warehousing and distribution operations; Key legal support for the Transportation team, including subject matter expertise on DOT and FMCSA regulations and practical compliance solutions; Counsel on liability issues related to damaged goods, theft, delays and breach of contract; Develop and deliver training on legal issues and mitigating regulatory and employment risks; Represent the company in matters before federal, state and local administrative agencies; Manage outside counsel handling employment related lawsuits and regulatory matters as applicable; Respond to attorney demand letters and customer complaints, negotiate early resolution of disputes; Facilitate communication between the Legal Department and divisions/distribution centers. We are looking for candidates who possess the following: License to practice law and in good standing with the Bar of any state that enables admission to practice as in house counsel Minimum of 8 plus years in private practice and/or in-house legal department experience in relevant areas. Substantive knowledge of employment laws and regulations, administrative procedures, court rules and legal research skills in order to effectively defend the Company Strong negotiation, decision making, interviewing, investigation, and problem-solving skills. Good judgment, collaboration, interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and exercise excellent judgement and discretion Demonstrated ability to translate legal requirements into practical, scalable solutions for the operations team. Excellent oral and written communication skills, collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
