LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a nationally recognized law firm seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Litigation Legal Assistant to support a busy team of attorneys handling complex bankruptcy and commercial litigation matters.
This position is ideal for someone with strong federal court filing experience, excellent organizational skills, and prior exposure to bankruptcy or restructuring matters. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage competing deadlines effectively, and communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, and court personnel.
Responsibilities:
Prepare, proofread, format, and electronically file legal documents in federal, bankruptcy, appellate, and state courts
Support attorneys handling complex bankruptcy litigation and restructuring matters
Assist with Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and/or Chapter 13 bankruptcy filings and related procedures
Maintain court calendars, monitor deadlines, and coordinate scheduling across multiple jurisdictions
Prepare pleadings, correspondence, exhibits, TOCs, TOAs, and other legal documentation
Coordinate document production, trial preparation, and hearing preparation
Manage attorney travel arrangements, expense reimbursements, and CLE registrations
Open new matters, prepare engagement documentation, and assist with conflicts processes
Maintain electronic filing credentials and monitor court admission requirements
Support billing processes, including time entry and pre-bill review
Provide backup support to additional legal support staff as needed
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary within a law firm environment
Prior bankruptcy experience is required, including exposure to Chapter 7, 11, and/or 13 matters
Experience supporting complex litigation matters with heavy federal court filing requirements
Strong knowledge of federal and state court e-filing systems, including bankruptcy court filings
Experience supporting multi-jurisdictional litigation matters preferred
Big Law experience is a plus
Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high level of professionalism
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Advanced Microsoft Word skills, including formatting, track changes, TOCs, and TOAs
Experience with Adobe Acrobat and document management systems preferred
Familiarity with billing, time entry, and expense reimbursement systems is a plus
Washington notary experience is a plus
Ability to work overtime as needed
