Insurance Coverage Attorney Experience: 5+ years of experience Location: Chicago, IL Position Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Opportunity A premier litigation firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Insurance Coverage Attorney to join its expanding Chicago practice. The firm handles complex, high-stakes insurance coverage disputes and provides sophisticated opinion work for major domestic and international insurers. This role offers an excellent platform for a senior associate or counsel-level attorney looking to manage complex matters and advance their career in a collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities Analyze complex insurance policies (commercial general liability, professional liability, D&O, cyber, and property) and draft comprehensive coverage opinions and position letters. Litigate insurance coverage disputes, including drafting pleadings, substantive motions, and appellate briefs. Conduct and defend depositions of key witnesses, experts, and corporate representatives. Appear in state and federal courts for oral arguments, hearings, and trials. Advise insurance carrier clients on risk assessment, claims handling, and bad faith exposure. Provide strategic mentorship and guidance to junior associates within the practice group. Qualifications & Skills Experience: 5 or more years of dedicated first-party or third-party insurance coverage analysis and litigation experience. Education: J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials. Licensure: Active member in good standing with the Illinois State Bar (ARDC). Skills: * Exceptional legal research, analytical, and writing skills, with a proven track record of drafting complex coverage opinions. Significant experience in federal and state court litigation procedures. Strong communication skills and the ability to interface directly with sophisticated insurance clients.
