Estate Planning and Probate Paralegal

Responsibilities:

  • Draft estate planning documents, including Wills, Revocable Trusts, Powers of Attorney, and Advance Directives, and communicate with clients regarding document preparation.

  • Prepare and file probate petitions and related pleadings in Probate Court.

  • Administer probate and trust matters from initiation through closing, including assisting fiduciaries with ongoing responsibilities.

  • Maintain attorney calendars, including court dates, filing deadlines, and client meetings.

  • Organize and maintain both physical and electronic case files.

  • Handle Municipal City Court matters, including communication with defendants, defense attorneys, courts, and third parties regarding case status and preparation for bench trials.

  • Assist with legal research and additional document preparation as needed.

  • Track billable time and assist with billing entries.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-5 years of paralegal experience with a focus on estate planning and/or probate, or a Paralegal certificate/degree in a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience drafting estate planning and probate documents.

  • Working knowledge of Probate Court procedures and filing requirements.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional demeanor.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook, with typing speed of 50+ WPM.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with legal billing software such as Timeslips, TABS, or similar platforms.
