The Assistant General Counsel serves as a strategic legal advisor and business partner to Air Methods operational and regional leadership teams. This role has direct impact on enabling safe, compliant, and efficient operations across a dynamic healthcare aviation environment by delivering practical, business-oriented legal guidance on litigation, regulatory matters, contracts, employment issues, and operational risk.
Success in this position requires more than legal expertise it requires the ability to build trusted partnerships with operational leaders, navigate complex and fast-moving business challenges, and help drive outcomes that support Air Methods mission of delivering critical care transportation services.
The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to translate legal risk into actionable business solutions in a highly regulated and operationally intensive environment.
Key Attributes & Experience Were Looking For- Experience practicing at a major law firm (100+ attorneys preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to partner closely with operational and business leadership teams
- Strong business judgment with a practical, solution-oriented approach to legal counseling
- Experience supporting highly regulated industries, with healthcare and/or aviation experience strongly preferred
- Ability to manage complex legal, regulatory, and contractual matters in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions
- Proven ability to balance legal risk with operational realities and business priorities
This is a hybrid position with 3-4 days in the office at our Denver HQ.
ResponsibilitiesDrafting, review, and negotiation of commercial agreements with hospitals, vendors, lessors and other parties
Developing and maintaining standard contract templates and forms
Overseeing the day to day operations and administration of Air Methods contracting process
Advising on business issues and regulatory issues related to operations
Providing counsel on state and federal issues/questions related Air Methods operations
Managing dispute resolution and litigation within the region
Identifying and analyzing risks and delivering practical, creative solutions to the issues faced in the region
Developing and maintaining working relationships with a wide variety of business, sales and clinical management in the region
Managing of legal budget and coordinating outside counsel support
Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience
- Juris Doctor (JD) and four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in a law firm or in-house position
Healthcare regulatory experience preferred
Skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work both independently and within a team in high-pressure situations and fast-paced environment
Computer Skills
Intermediate with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state
