ATTORNEY IV (PERSONNEL ATTORNEY) / LEGAL OFFICE / SACRAMENTO, CA T he reporting location for this position is Headquarters located at 715 P Street, Sacramento, CA. California State Parks is seeking to hire an experienced attorney to serve as its Personnel Attorney. This position reports directly to the Chief Counsel of the Legal Office in Sacramento and provides legal advice and assistance on employment, personnel, and labor relations matters. These issues include review of disciplinary actions, prosecution of disciplinary matters before the State Personnel Board, advice and consultation to the staff of the Human Resources Office, including Labor Relations staff, and other Administrative staff, reasonable accommodation requests, return to work matters, workers compensation, liaison with the Attorney General on employment civil litigation matters, attendance at mediations in both administrative and civil litigation matters, provision of legal advice to Department management and staff regarding employment and personnel matters, review of subpoena responses, and other related employment and personnel matters. This position also provides legal advice regarding labor relations issues such as grievances, terms and conditions of employment, violation of Bargaining Units and Memorandum of Understanding provisions, state housing and transfers, collective bargaining issues and procedures, Peace Officer Bill of Rights (POBAR) matters, CalOSHA citations, and conflict of interest matters. This position represents the Department at administrative hearings, including but not limited to the State Personnel Board, regarding personnel and employment matters. Other related duties as assigned.

Significant travel statewide is required.

This position is designated Confidential.

This position requires a California State Bar License.

This position is designated as telework eligible-remote centered.

Attorney III will also be considered for recruitment purposes.
