TERM LAW CLERK - U.S. DISTRICT COURT EASTERN DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA (FRESNO)

United States Magistrate Judge Erica P. Grosjean is seeking well qualified applicants for a full-time, term law clerk position. The incumbent will perform substantive review, research and writing on a wide range of issues that arise in federal litigation and will also prepare orders on such matters that are pending before Judge Grosjean.

Applicants should be available for an immediate start date of employment, taking into account any reasonable transition or relocation time needed from the time of offer. An initial two-year term of appointment is preferred. The term may be extended for up to two additional years by mutual agreement. It is preferred that the selected candidate work on site in Fresno with the option of regular remote workdays; however, Judge Grosjean will consider preference for full-time telework for extraordinarily qualified applicants. This preference should be stated in an applicant's cover letter.

Minimum Qualifications

For consideration, applicants must be law school graduates with excellent academic records and excellent research and writing skills. Applicants must also possess one or more years of post-graduate legal work experience in a high-volume, production-oriented work environment and membership in a Bar of a state, territorial or Federal of general jurisdiction.

Applicants who possess experience in Social Security, other administrative appeals, civil litigation, and/or prior federal clerkship experience are highly preferred).

Salary

Applicants with at least one year of post-graduate legal work experience and Bar membership in a state, territorial or Federal of general jurisdiction will be placed at a JSP grade 12 step 1 ($89,959).

Applicants with at least two years of post-graduate legal work experience and Bar membership in a state, territorial or Federal of general jurisdiction will be placed at a JSP grade 13 step 1 ($106,973).

Applicants with three or more years of post-graduate legal work experience and Bar membership will be placed at a JSP grade 14 step 1 ($126,410) if at least two of the three years of the required experience were as a law clerk in the federal judiciary and/or in a Federal Supreme Fellowship.

Consideration for placement above step 1 will be limited to applicants who possess work experience in the Federal Government at a higher grade and/or step as defined under Highest Previous Rate (HPR) Authority.
