If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team th is responsible for handling some of the most complex and difficult cases in the United Stes Attorney's office (USAO) because they require organizing, tracking, and analyzing thousands of items of evidence, millions of da elements, or involve untried or especially novel computer or digital imaging applicions.

Typical work assignments will include:

Responsible for the overall supervision, coordinion, and casework assignment for criminal/civil support staff. Ensuring adeque coverage during pre-trial, trial, and post-trial stages.

Providing technical advice to litigion teams on legal automion requirements and systems capabilities to facilite litigion decisions, trial preparion and trial presention.

Assisting and/or training torneys and legal support staff in organizing voluminous case informion for efficient retrieval through automed means such as scanning, indexing, and controlling of documents into a dabase.

Ensuring proper hardware/software is in place for courtroom and grand jury sessions.

Utilizing a variety of automed legal research tools as well as public informion dabases and other automed resources to research case or program-specific legal mters and participing in assigned areas of criminal and civil proceedings, e.g., electronic discovery.

Preparing and maintaining a variety of trial-reled documents, e.g., discovery letters, exhibit lists, jury instructions, voir dire, motions in limine, trial subpoenas, by applying a thorough knowledge of the Federal Rules of Evidence and Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure and applicion of practical litigive experience.

Providing advice to torneys and other legal support staff on the most effective and efficient ways to prepare, present and maintain a variety of administrive legal documents, e.g., discovery letters, exhibit lists, jury instructions and subpoenas.

Reviewing, assessing, and developing local litigion policies and procedures to ensure they are consistent with current policies and objectives.

Qualificions

GS-12: To be eligible the GS-12 level, you must have least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service as defined below.

Specialized experience is defined as experience performing the following types of duties: assisting torneys in preparing for voluminous litigion support assignments (i.e., organizing case informion, scanning and indexing documents, etc.); conducting research, analysis and evaluion of da in response to case-specific legal mters; composing legal briefs, summaries of analyses and decisions, and trial preparion; and mentoring and/or providing training to support legal staff.
