Compensation:

Hourly Pay Range: $80,000.00-$88,000.00

Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The position (K0244540)

Litigation - This position would handle the administrative litigation involving the Kansas Medicaid program as assigned by the supervising legal staff. The litigation would be over Medicaid eligibility and provider matters. This position would also handle any judicial litigation resulting from the administrative litigation. Litigation duties would include the handling of any discovery requests or settlement agreements.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

Document review and preparation - This position would review documents related to the Kansas Medicaid program. This position could also prepare the documents for review by supervising legal or Kansas Medicaid staff. Examples of the documents involved with this duty would include regulations, statutes, policies, and communications related to simple to moderately complex Medicaid matters.

Contract development or review - This position would assist the Senior Medicaid attorney and lead Medicaid attorney in developing or reviewing contracts, memorandums of understanding, or agreements related to simple to moderately complex Kansas Medicaid matters.

Research and Advice - This position would assist the Senior Medicaid attorney and lead Medicaid attorney in researching simple to moderately complex Medicaid matters and developing advice for the Kansas Medicaid program based on the research.

Qualifications

Education:

Licensing & Certification:

Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of a legal education resulting in the award of a Juris Doctor

Licensed to practice law in the State of Kansas

Preferred Qualifications:

Six months to 2 years of legal experience dealing with state administrative or judicial matters.
