Legal Assistant - Medical Negligence & General Liability Defense

Location: Downtown Denver, CO

A well-established defense litigation firm in downtown Denver is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support attorneys and paralegals in a fast-paced practice focused on medical negligence and general liability defense. This role plays a critical part in ensuring efficient legal operations and delivering high-quality client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional client service through professional communication, scheduling, and meeting coordination

  • Offer proactive administrative support to attorneys and paralegals

  • Draft, file, and serve litigation-related documents, motions, discovery, and pleadings

  • Prepare correspondence and legal memoranda in accordance with firm standards

  • Maintain accurate and well-organized electronic client files; document management is a top priority

  • Download, file, and manage court documents and pleadings

  • Manage attorney calendars and schedule court appearances, depositions, and client meetings

  • Monitor deadlines and proactively notify attorneys of upcoming requirements

  • Interact professionally with court personnel, attorneys, and staff

  • Process mail, payments, and reimbursement requests

  • Maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate strong attention to detail

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Legal Assistant in a defense litigation law firm

  • Experience supporting medical malpractice defense or similar litigation preferred

  • Education beyond high school or legal-related coursework preferred

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal court systems; Colorado required, New Mexico a plus

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Experience with billing software and online document management systems preferred

  • Strong experience with electronic filing in state and federal courts

  • Advanced Outlook calendar management skills

  • Typing speed of at least 65 WPM

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Compensation & Benefits

  • Direct hire position

  • Salary range: $60,000-$65,000 annually, commensurate with experience

  • Benefits include health insurance, dental coverage, and a 401(k) plan

Benefits & Additional Information
