The AUSA hired for this position will primarily prosecute drug trafficking offenses, such as trafficking of fentanyl and its precursor chemicals. Additionally, the AUSA will prosecute gang-reled crimes involving aliens, child trafficking, human smuggling, and firearms offenses. AUSAs write their own District and Appelle Court briefs. Therefore, strong writing skills are required.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments come more complex as your training and experience progress.
Security Requirements: Initial appointment is conditioned upon a sisfactory preemployment adjudicion. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudicion of a background investigion.
Residency Requirements: Assistant United Stes Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof. See 28 U.S.C. 545 for district-specific informion.

Qualificions
All applicants must be U.S. citizens. Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar (any jurisdiction), and have least 1 year post-J.D. legal experience, which may include a judicial law clerkship.
Applicants must have: (1) one year of experience as an torney; and (2) strong analytical skills, including strong research and computer skills. Applicants must also possess excellent oral and written communicion skills, interpersonal skills, good judgment, and the ability to work in a supportive, professional manner with other torneys, support staff, investigors, and client agencies. Applicants must have a demonstred capacity to function, with minimal guidance, in a highly demanding environment.

All applicants must be U.S. citizens. Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar (any jurisdiction), and have least 1 year post-J.D. legal experience, which may include a judicial law clerkship.
Applicants must have: (1) one year of experience as an torney; and (2) strong analytical skills, including strong research and computer skills. Applicants must also possess excellent oral and written communicion skills, interpersonal skills, good judgment, and the ability to work in a supportive, professional manner with other torneys, support staff, investigors, and client agencies. Applicants must have a demonstred capacity to function, with minimal guidance, in a highly demanding environment.
