We have partnered with a growing, trial-focused plaintiff-side law firm in Kansas City that is actively seeking a Legal Assistant to join its team. They are representing people in Personal-Injury cases and select Pro-Bono matters . The firm is trial-focused: we prepare cases to be tried, and we try cases to juries and judges when needed. This is a full-time hybrid (More in-office time will be needed during training) opportunity offering hands-on litigation exposure, direct attorney interaction, meaningful client involvement, and long-term growth potential within a collaborative and entrepreneurial legal environment. Position Overview - This role supports plaintiff personal injury matters from intake through resolution. During the initial training period, additional in-office presence will be expected, with increased remote flexibility available as proficiency and confidence develop. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking meaningful legal experience within a smaller, trial-oriented practice environment rather than a large-volume or heavily bureaucratic setting. Key Responsibilities Communicating with clients and assisting with intake processes Opening and maintaining case files and related documentation Requesting, organising, and tracking medical records, bills, liens, and supporting materials Preparing legal correspondence and administrative documents Assisting with calendars, scheduling, phone, and email management Supporting settlement and lien-resolution processes Assisting with depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial preparation Helping improve internal workflows, systems, and operational processes Learning and utilising legal technology and AI-supported tools where appropriate Ideal Background: The firm is seeking someone with strong organisational ability, professionalism, and sound judgment . Ideal candidates may possess : Administrative, legal support, or client-service experience Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel Ability to manage deadlines and shifting priorities Willingness to learn new legal software and systems A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset High level of integrity, discretion, and accountability Genuine interest in helping people and contributing to a growing practice environment Compensation & Schedule Compensation range: approximately $20-$30/hour depending on experience and overall fit. Full-time opportunity. Hybrid flexibility available following training and demonstrated proficiency. Note: This position does not currently include health insurance or a traditional fringe-benefit package. The firm hopes to add those benefits in the future, but they are not available now.
