Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary: The Kansas State Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA) is seeking to fill an Associate General Counsel position. The Associate General Counsel serves under the direction of the General Counsel - providing legal advice, representation and services to the agency, its governing Board, Executive Director, management, staff, advisory Councils, Committees, and other sub-entities.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
This position is responsible for a wide range of areas, including, but not necessarily limited to:
Representing the Board in appellate review actions and prosecuting unauthorized practice cases in court.
Providing legal advice to the Board in their decision-making capacity during administrative hearings.
Providing legal advice and opinions to the Board, advisory Councils and staff.
Providing legal review of requests for open records and subpoenas to the agency.
Assisting the Executive Director and General Counsel in legislative matters including drafting proposed legislation and presenting testimony before legislative committees.
Drafting and reviewing regulations, policies and procedures with regard to form and legality.
Responding to inquiries from licensees, stakeholders, other government officials and the public.
Performing other work as assigned by General Counsel, and Executive Director.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited school of law and possesses a current Kansas Law license.
Preferred Qualifications: Emphasis in professional licensing, health law, administrative law or related field of practice is preferred.
