Our client, a respected firm specializing in employment and labor law, is seeking a skilled Litigation Secretary to support their legal team in Kansas City. Known for delivering high-quality legal services and fostering a collaborative, professional environment, the firm offers the tools and support needed to succeed in complex litigation work.

This role is essential to ensuring the efficiency and organization of daily legal operations. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive administrative and litigation support to attorneys while maintaining accuracy, meeting deadlines, and contributing to exceptional client service.

What you'll be doing:

Draft, format, and finalize legal documents including pleadings, briefs, and correspondence

Handle state and federal court filings, including e-filing processes

Proofread documents carefully to ensure accuracy and completeness

Maintain and organize client files and case records

Manage attorney calendars, including scheduling deadlines and appointments

Coordinate travel arrangements and meeting logistics

Enter, review, and revise attorney time entries, ensuring proper coding where applicable

Prepare expense reports, reimbursements, and mileage submissions

Provide professional phone support and occasional front desk coverage

Review vendor invoices, prepare payment requests, and assist with billing processes

Support pre-bill and client billing review and submission

What you'll need to succeed:

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a litigation or legal secretary

High school diploma required; college degree preferred

Experience with tools such as LexisNexis, PACER, ECF, Milana, and Concur

Strong understanding of legal terminology, litigation procedures, and document formatting (including tables of contents and authorities)

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and document management systems

Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
