Part-Time Legal Clerk For Lee County
Lee County is Presently Seeking A Part-Time Legal Clerk Admin for the Public Defender's Office.
$11.50 per hour
Position Summary
The Part-Time Legal Clerk provides administrative and clerical support to attorneys within the Lee County Public Defender Office. This role supports daily office operations by managing case files, assisting clients and visitors, handling communications, and performing general office duties in a fast-paced, high-volume legal environment.
Examples of Work Performed
Provide general clerical and administrative support to attorneys managing a high volume of cases
Answer incoming calls, check voicemail, and route messages appropriately
Greet and assist clients and visitors in a professional manner
Open, maintain, and close electronic and physical case files
Utilize case management software (training provided)
Perform data entry and maintain accurate records
Complete daily errands and courier duties as needed
Operate standard office equipment including computers, printers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and telephones
Assist with document preparation and file organization
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to perform accurate data entry and manage records efficiently
Ability to operate standard office equipment and basic computer systems
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, clients, and the public
Ability to exercise independent judgment in routine and non-routine tasks
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure or stressful situations
Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks effectively
Ability to work respectfully and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED, supplemented by clerical or customer service experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Valid South Carolina driver's license and reliable transportation
Professional demeanor in both in-person and phone interactions
Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office environment
Frequent interaction with the public, including clients in sensitive or high-stress situations
May require light lifting, filing, and movement of documents
Schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
