Job Title: Legal Assistant
Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Office Manager / Director of Office Operations
Location: Buffalo, NY (Hybrid after onboarding)
About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support a team of attorneys in a fast-paced, professional legal environment. This role offers a hybrid schedule after the initial onboarding period (approximately 90 days), with 3 days in-office and 2 days remote, providing both collaboration and flexibility. You will play a key role in keeping legal operations running smoothly, managing documents, coordinating schedules, and ensuring deadlines are met, while working both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, format, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and memos
Manage attorney calendars, deadlines, and scheduling (hearings, depositions, meetings)
Coordinate with clients during intake and ongoing case activity
Maintain organized electronic and physical files
Arrange travel and conference logistics as needed
Support billing and accounting processes (pro formas, check requests, matter intake/updates)
Collaborate with other Legal Assistants to support team needs
Ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism in all work
Qualifications
2+ years of legal administrative experience (law firm preferred)
Associate's or Bachelor's degree is a plus
Familiarity with legal terminology, documents, and procedures
Experience with docketing and electronic filing (litigation experience preferred)
Strong technical skills (Microsoft Office, document management systems)
Exceptional attention to detail and proofreading ability
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent communication skills and ability to work with attorneys and clients
High level of discretion and professionalism
