The Nevada State Public Defender, Winnemucca Office, is responsible for representing indigent clients in the Union Justice court and the Sixth Judicial District Court.
  • Nevada Bar Membership is required or candidates must be eligible to practice under the rural practice provision of the Nevada Supreme Court Rule 49.9.
  • Preference may be given to candidates that are Cat A certified, self-motivated, possess conflict resolution skills, proficient in Microsoft 360 programs, Legal Case Management software systems, and is fluent in Spanish.
  • Experience in criminal defense law, strong written and verbal communication skills, time management skills, and organizational skills.
  • Meeting with clients in and out of custody
  • Reviewing and analyzing discovery
  • Consulting with clients, investigators, and additional office staff
  • Managing court appearances, client meetings, telephonic conferences, and negotiating with opposing counsel
  • This position may supervise one or more Deputy Public Defenders and/or contracted attorneys.
