The Nevada State Public Defender, Ely Office, is responsible for representing indigent clients in the Municipal Court of Ely Township, Ely Justice Court and the Seventh Judicial District Court
- Nevada Bar Membership is required or candidates must be eligible to practice under the rural practice provision of the Nevada Supreme Court Rule 49.9.
- Preference may be given to candidates that are Cat A certified, self motivated, possess conflict resolution skills, proficient in Microsoft 360 programs, Legal Case Management software systems, and is fluent in Spanish.
- Experience in criminal defense law
- Meeting with clients in and out of custody
- Reviewing and analyzing discovery
- Consulting with clients, investigators, and additional office staff
- Managing court appearances, client meetings, telephonic conferences, and negotiating with opposing counsel
- This position may supervise one or more Deputy Public Defenders and/or contracted attorneys.
