Job Title Adjunct Instructor, Paralegal Job Description

The adjunct instructor will teach Paralegal courses on a part time basis under the direction of the Workforce Development Division. This program is currently held as a synchronous online class.

Full Time or Part Time Part Time Essential Duties Summary

Teach assigned online courses in Paralegal Studies in accordance with established curriculum, learning outcomes, and departmental guidelines.

Develop and deliver engaging online instructional materials, including lectures, discussions, assignments, and assessments.

Provide timely, constructive feedback on student work and maintain accurate grade records.

Support student success by offering guidance, answering questions, and directing students to appropriate resources when needed.

Ensure course content aligns with current legal practices, ethical standards, and program accreditation requirements.

Utilize the college's learning management system (LMS) to manage course materials, communication, and assessments.

Uphold academic integrity and maintain a learning environment that is inclusive, respectful, and supportive of diverse learners.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD)
  • 3-5 years legal experience
  • Ability to teach in accordance with NC State Bar and National Paralegal curriculum standards
  • Strong communication skills and ability to teach complex legal concepts clearly

Work is primarily performed in an academic (an office or classroom) setting with appropriate climate controls. Travel, early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required.

Physical demands are in excess of sedentary work. Requires the ability to walk, stand, stoop, reach, crouch, knees, reach, or grasp for an extended period of time.

Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills are important.

Salary Grade Salary $31.27 for Doctorate Degree
