We are a small law firm located near downtown San Jose that handles a variety of legal matters, focused primarily around business and commercial disputes, litigation, and bankruptcy. We are looking for a full-time, experienced paralegal to support our team.
The right candidate will have litigation experience, work well under the strain of deadlines and competing priorities, and appreciate working closely with a friendly, small team.
Duties May Include:
Case management - calendaring, docket review, and file maintenance
E-filing in state and federal courts and serving documents
Assisting with all aspects of discovery, including document management, review, redacting, and Bates stamping
Drafting and assembling motions, ex parte applications, and discovery
General administrative support including answering phones, scanning, maintaining office supplies
Qualifications:
Knowledge of proper grammar, formatting, and word processing is critical
Must possess excellent computer proficiency including advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills
The right candidate will be a great writer needing little to no guidance when it comes to effective writing in legal, professional, and customer service contexts
Three years of experience or more working in a law office with legal assistant or paralegal level duties
Working knowledge of civil procedure including legal calendaring and service of process
Bankruptcy experience is a plus but not required
Ability to work onsite in San Jose Monday through Friday
Location requirements: Onsite in San Jose, California
Expected pay: Starting rate will be $35-$40 per hour based on experience
