Litigation Attorney (Hybrid/Remote)

Betts Law Group is a distinguished law firm dedicated to providing exceptional legal services with a focus on civil litigation, particularly in handling sensitive and impactful sexual assault cases on a trauma informed team.  We are seeking a dynamic civil litigation Associate Attorney to join our team and contribute to our mission.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Attorney with 3-7 years of experience in civil litigation to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to independently manage cases from inception to resolution, demonstrating a strong commitment to client advocacy and justice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to litigate caseload of Plaintiff’s civil litigation matters from inception to resolution with a primary focus on sexual assault cases.
  • Formulate case strategy from initial intake and execute discovery plan to obtain evidence necessary to prove-up case.
  • Actively litigate case from initial pleadings through discovery to dispositive motions.
  • Draft settlement demands, complaints, discovery and all necessary motions.
  • Prepare clients for and defend client depositions. Take and defend lay and expert witness depositions.
  • Attend all court appearances in the life of a case, up to and including trial.
  • Actively participate in case resolution, including negotiations, mediations and settlement conferences.
  • Experience with Sexual Assault cases preferred but not required. We provide trauma informed advocacy training. Desire to advocate for Plaintiffs’ required, and candidates with defense backgrounds are welcome to apply.

Qualifications

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Bar Membership: Active member of the California State Bar.
  • Experience: 3-7 years of experience in civil litigation, will consider experience on either the defense or applicant side.
  • Passion and Skills: Sincere desire to advocate for Plaintiffs in sexual assault and sexual harassment cases with a commitment to providing trauma informed legal representation. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
