The office prosecutes federal crimes and represents the interests of the United States in civil cases. Responsibilities and Opportunity Offered: The District of Delaware is accepting applications for an Assistant United States Attorney to combat financial fraud as part of its Civil Division through litigation of bankruptcy cases on behalf of the United States and through affirmative civil enforcement. The position includes representing the government at hearings and trials in the United States District and Bankruptcy Courts in the District of Delaware. Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be duly licensed and authorized to practice as an attorney under the laws of a State, territory, or District of Columbia, and have at least one year of post-J.D. litigation experience. Applicants must be active members in good standing of the bar (any jurisdiction). Ideal qualifications include at least three years of post-J.D. litigation experience. Preferred qualifications: Applicants with three or more years of bankruptcy experience and commercial litigation background are strongly preferred. Applicants must demonstrate a quick analytical ability and the facility to accurately and precisely articulate the critical issues in civil litigation. Applicants must demonstrate superior writing skills as well as strong research and interpersonal skills and good judgment. Applicants must possess excellent communication skills and exhibit the ability to work in a supportive and professional manner with other attorneys, support staff and client agencies. Applicants must have a demonstrated capacity to function, with minimal guidance, in a highly demanding environment, including courtroom and trial settings. Applicants must also demonstrate excellent computer skills to include experience with automated research on the Internet, e-mail and word processing systems. Travel: Occasional travel may be required. Salary Information: Assistant United States Attorneys' pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $44,581 to $117,994 plus locality pay where authorized. Location: The U.S. Attorney's Office is located in Wilmington, Delaware.
